I've acquired a handful of helpful hints and tips both from trials and errors as well as from my friends and family.  Hope they help you, too!

  • Wear an apron.  I ALWAYS wear one, especially when baking, because it not only protects my clothing, but it gets me into the mindset of creating masterpieces.
  • When storing treats in an airtight container, add 1 or 2 slices of regular sandwich bread to keep your cookies, etc. soft and fresh.
  • Use parchment paper when baking cookies.  It saves cookies from sticking to pans and it makes for an easier clean up!
  • If you use more than one baking pan at a time, switch the cookies from top to bottom halfway through baking (and you can even flip them so that they bake evenly front-to-back to if you're feeling ambitious).
  • When testing recipes for the first time, turn the stove's temperature down a notch from the recommended heat setting...you don't want to burn your food while you're still reading about the next step in the cooking process.
