Snickerdoodles
Ingredients
makes 20 cookies
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and cinnamon.
- In a separate large bowl, cream together butter and sugar with a wooden spoon. Using an electric mixer, add egg and vanilla. Gradually add the flour mixture until combined. The mixture may seem crumbly; at this point, use your hands to squeeze and combine the dough.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and line them up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place about 1-2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 12 minutes, until slightly crinkly. Allow cookies to cool on wire racks.
